County Senior Football League, Division 2, Round 9.

Dingle 0-14, Templenoe 1-11.

Templenoe made the long trip to Dingle and Sunday and came away with a share of the spoils and were full value for at least that having led for most of the contest.

The game was preceded with a minute’s silence for the late Sheilia O’Connor, Derrygarrane who passed away on Saturday, 7th June RIP.

Dingle made the brighter start and made full use of their wind advantage to open up a four points lead courtesy of Deividas Uosis, Tadhg Browne (2pointer) and Cathal Bambury. Templenoe’s response was emphatic and rewarding hitting 1-06 on the trot to stun the hosts and their supporters. A few well worked moves in that period saw Templenoe waste little or no possession and it began with Aidan Crowley slotting over 2 frees, then Colin Crowley showed great determination and skill to get the only goal of the game after 7 minutes of play. Further points followed from Aidan Crowley, Patrick Clifford, Colin Crowley and Gavin Crowley to make the score 0-04 to 1-06 at the end of the first quarter and put the visitors in a dream position.

Cathal Bambury and Aidan Crowley traded scores before the hosts rallied again and reduced the margin to the minimum just before the break thanks to points from Cathal Bambury (2) and Ned Ryan. It was all to play for.

Half Time Score: Dingle 0-09, Templenoe 1-07.

On resumption, Cathal Bambury and Aidan Crowley swapped points once more, before Adrian Spillane and Patrick Clifford put the visitors three points to the good. Dingle pulled one back with Ned Ryan splitting the posts, they then introduced their experienced midfielder Billy O’Connor as they pushed to take back control of this game. Tadhg Browne raised another white flag for the hosts soon after to make the 0-12 to 1-10 heading into the last quarter.

Both sides were guilty of a few wides, before Tadhg Browne and Deividas Uosis fired over two points in a row for Dingle to re-take the lead for the first time in 49 minutes. To their credit Templenoe did not panic and equalized with their next play with Adrian Spillane showing good composure to pop the ball over the bar. It could have gone either way in injury time, but neither side were able to convert their last chances and with that the referee blew for full time.
