Templenoe Crest

It was with great sadness that the members of Templenoe GAA Club and the wider community heard of the death of Tom O’Sullivan on Friday 17th of January.

A lifelong member of Templenoe GAA Club, Tom played at underage and through to the senior team where he earned the reputation as sticky and tough tackling corner back. Success might have been hard to come by in that generation, but Tom was an ever present who travelled the whole county to proudly represent the blue and white.

In his youth Tom also took part in many Scór competitions with the quiz time being his speciality. Tom’s interests in sport and politics which he inherited from his wonderful family, ensured he was always an able performer. Upon retiring from football, Tom was an ever present at all Templenoe GAA Club meetings, matches and functions. Through his brothers, Patrick and Paul’s postings as club PRO’s, Tom was always helping out. He tracked match scorers, kept notes and contributed to the after match debate as the match report was been written up in the O’Sullivan household in Claddanure. Indeed Tom was still providing this service up to last weekend in the All Ireland Semi Final in Kilmallock.

Tom was also a perennial Kerry GAA season ticket holder, who travelled far and wide following the Kingdom. He took great pride in the performances of those in green and gold, and especially the displays of the local players. Tom didn’t limit his love of sport to the GAA, he also visited Old Trafford on a number of occasions to watch his beloved Manchester United play.

The passing of Tom O’Sullivan is felt as a huge loss to everyone at Templenoe GAA Club. All our thoughts are with his parents Jack and Mary and his brothers Patrick, John and Paul.
