An Gaeltacht extended a céad mile fáilte to Templenoe on a gale swept day a Gallarois. The hosts won the toss and naturally elected to play with the gale in the first half. They quickly sped into the lead with a scrappy goal inside the first few minutes. Over the course of the half this was followed by 5 two pointers, a fortuitous goal and two more points. Try as they might a battling Templenoe had only a pointed free from Colin Crowley to show for their efforts by half time.

Templenoe had a mountain to climb but they rose to the challenge. Aided by the wind they also scored 5 two pointers, three points and a well worked goal that was finished by Ríain O'Byrne. While An Gaeltacht had a player dismissed for a striking offence mid-way through the half , Templenoe just failed to do enough damage to a resolute local defence. An animated on-field discussion on the application of the new rules lead to a yellow card for a mentor on both sides before the game finished on a score of An Gaeltacht 3:13 to Templenoe 1:13.
