Novice Champions just two years ago, Templenoe were crowned Kerry Junior Champions today following victory over Glenbeigh-Glencar in a disappointingly one sided final in Fitzgerald Stadium.

Once the winners took advantage of the wind in the first half to open up an 8 points interval lead, the writing was always on the wall for the Mid Kerry men and Templenoe were quite content to soak up the pressure in the second half.

Templenoe got the perfect start when Gavin Crowley pointed them in front two minutes in and two minutes later Sean Sheehan was on hand to finish to the net after Killian Spillane’s shot was saved by Rory O’Connor. Gavan O’Grady did open the scoring for Glenbeigh in the 6th minute but Templenoe added four points to one in reply to lead by 1-5 to 0-1 after 15 minutes. The losers were making no headway against the Templenoe defence and after Stephen O’Sullivan reduced the deficit, Teddy Doyle showed the difference between the sides when he combined with his two midfielders to shoot a point in the 25th minute. Killian Spillane, from a free and play left the half time score 1-8 to 0-3 in Templenoe’s favour.

Gavan O’Grady and Patrick Clifford swapped points on the resumption before Glenbeigh-Glencar were dealt another blow when Pa Kilkenny saw red after a second yellow in the 39th minute. The game as a contest deteriorated thereafter and Templenoe led by 1-11 to 0-5 when Glenbeigh were awarded a penalty after a good move between Darran O’Sullivan and Gavan O’Drady in the 52nd minute. The latter duly despatched the penalty to the net to leave the margin at 6 points but Danny Cahalane, Patrick Clifford and Teddy Doyle replied with points for Templenoe and the final score of the game came from Darran O’Sullivan who fired just over the bar from a close in free in the final moments.

After the game, the Con Brosnan Cup was presented to winning captain Tadhg Morley by County Committee Vice Chairman Diarmiad Ó Sé and The Castleisland Mart Man of the Match was presented to Templenoe’s wing back Gavin Crowley by Jimmy Roche of Castleisland Mart.

Templenoe will now play Bandon of Cork in the Munster Junior Club Semi final on November 22nd at a Cork venue

Templenoe proved far superior to Glenbeigh-Glencar in the Kerry JFC final at Fitzgerald Stadium yesterday.

It was a super display by this young Templenoe side, led by the Crowley twins and Killian Spillane.

Once again, Division 1 side Glenbeigh/Glencar failed to perform in a final, and only Fergal Griffin and Jack Brosnan measured up.

Templenoe were on top from the outset as they dominated the midfield exchanges, with Sean Sheehan and Adrian Spillane ruling the roost. Glenbeigh/Glencar were all at sea at the back, as Killian Spillane caused havoc with some excellent points and the Crowley twins were surging forward at every opportunity.

After Gavin Crowley kicked the opening point, Templenoe struck for a soft goal, as Josh Holland drilled the ball under a defender and Glenbeigh/Glencar were in disarray.

Gavin O’Grady responded with a free for Glenbeigh/Glencar but it was all Templenoe. They controlled matters and added seven more points before the interval, with Killian Spillane kicking 0-4, including a beauty in injury time.

Colin McGillycuddy and Stephen O’Sullivan kept the Mid Kerry side afloat but playing with the wind, Templenoe led at the interval, 1-8 to 0-3.

Glenbeigh/Glencar did enjoy more possession in the second half but never looked like getting back into it as Templenoe defended admirably, led by Gavin Crowley.

Patrick Clifford kicked two good second-half points from wing back for Templenoe while Danny Cahalane and full-back Tadgh Morley also added points, with O’Grady adding two frees for the losers.

O’Grady did convert a 53rd minute penalty but the goal came too late and Templenoe will now take some beating in the Munster campaign.

In a very busy and exciting week for the club the 2015 Templenoe GAA Sports Prediction Quiz has come to a conclusion. As always it has been a close contest with the lead changing many times. Find below the final leaderboard. The winner and runners up will be contacted soon.

Again a massive thank you to everybody who entered the quiz this year. The support is a massive help to the club. A big thank you also for the support we have got in the lead you to the County Junior Final which is on this Sunday 8th of November at 1pm in Fitzgerald Stadium in Killarney.

Update on the Credit Union Senior Football League

Credit Union Senior Football League
Due to the backlog of fixtures currently being experienced the CCC has decided that County League games critical to promotion or relegation will be played off at the earliest opportunity and at the same time where necessary. This weekend there are some important League games down for decision.
In Division 1, the situation with regard to Dr Crokes opponents in the Division 1 final should become clearer as Legion play Milltown-Castlemaine and Desmonds play Austin Stacks in Round 11 on Sunday at 1pm. Legion and Stacks are both on 14 points with Desmonds on 13. The remaining final round games in Division 1 will be played on November 15th provided that Dingle are not involved in the Munster Club Championship.
In Division 2, there are two important back games that have to be played before the final round of games. Rathmore play Spa on this Saturday at 3pm in a game where the loser will see their promotion hopes evaporate. Templenoe are top of the table on 16 points, John Mitchels are on 15 with Kenmare on 14 and Spa and Rathmore on 13 points each. The back game between Gneeveguilla and St Marys is a crucial game and with the south Kerry club’s involvement in both Intermediate and senior championships, there is no date on the horizon for that game.
In Division 3, on this Saturday at 3pm there are two games down for decision that should decide who gets promoted to Division 2 with champions Beaufort who top the table on 16 points. Annascaul play An Ghaeltacht and Listry play Beaufort. Annascaul, An Ghaeltacht and Listry are all on 13 points.
The remaining games in Division 3 will be played on November 22nd.
In Divisions 4 and 5, all Round 11 games will now be played on November 22nd. There was one back game in Division 4 last weekend where Dr Crokes defeated Scartaglen to secure their Division 3 status and by the same token put a big dent in Scartaglen’s promotion hopes.

County Senior Football Championship Semi Final

The Kenmare District take on South Kerry in the semi final of the Garvey's Super Value Senior County Football Championship. This is the Kenmare District's first time in the semi final since 1995, so all support would be greatly appreciated.

The match is fixed for Fitzgearld Stadium with a throw in time of 2:30pm on Sunday, 25/10/15

County Junior Football Championship Semi Final, Templenoe V Firies

Templenoe 2-14, Firies 0-14

This was a very good and open match played in ideal conditions for football in Beaufort GAA Grounds. Both teams held periods of control over the sixty minutes, and the final scoreline does not do justice to how hard Templenoe had to fight to emerge victorious in this County Junior semi-final.

Templenoe opened very brightly and by the 12^th minute had opened up a Templenoe 0-04, Firies 0-01 lead through scores from Killian Spillane (3) and Stephen O’Sullivan. Firies came storming back into proceedings, and the next 15 minutes saw them kick five unanswered points from the boot of Colm O’Shea (2), William Courtney and Padraig De Bruin (2).

Templenoe were not playing well, but good running from Brian Crowley was rewarded with a pointed free. Soon after, the Firies centre back, James O’Donoghue was dismissed with a black card. Templenoe got the final score of the half with another pointed free from Killian Spillane.

The opening point of the 2^nd half was a pointed free by Colm O’Shea. Killian Spillane responded with another free, and soon after, good work by Teddy Doyle set Sean Sheehan up for the first of his four points of the 2^nd half. Firies again responded with a brace of points, leaving the score on the 40^th minute, Templenoe 0-08, Firies 0-09.

A fast ball into Killian Spillane saw him isolated in a good position running at goal. Killian drew the defender and passed the ball across the square for Brian Crowley to palm to the back of the net for a very important Templenoe goal. This gave Templenoe great confidence, and they pushed on kicking the next three points from Brian Crowley and Sean Sheehan (2).

With ten minutes left in the contest, Templenoe led on a score of Templenoe 1-11, Firies 0-09. Firies were not finished yet, and two quick pointed frees from Colm O’Shea left a goal in the difference. Soon after Colm O’Shea pointed well from play, but this was cancelled out by another Sean Sheehan point.

Again Firies reduced the margin to two points with another pointed free, but Templenoe finally found some breathing space when a swift attack found Adrian Spillane who rifled the ball home to the back of the net. The last three points of the match came Templenoe’s way to put an unfair reflection on the score. Templenoe 2-14, Firies 0-14
