Adrian Spillane’s retirement from Inter-County Football:
All at Templenoe GAA Club wish Adrian Spillane the very best in his retirement from Inter-County Football.
Adrian followed in the footsteps of his father, uncles and his grandfather by playing for Kerry at senior level. In the 2022 All-Ireland Senior football Final Adrian played an important role when introduced at half-time to help Kerry win Sam for the first time since 2014. It was a very proud day for Templenoe GAA Club, with his bother Killian, Tadhg Morley and Gavin Crowley all deservingly winning All-Ireland Senior Football Medals.
Adrian is a fantastic ambassador for Templenoe and we hope he will have many more playing years for our senior team.
Best wishes also to our neighbour Stephen O’Brien from the Kenmare Shamrocks GAA Club who too announced his retirement from the Inter-County scene last weekend.

Allianz GAA Football Inter-Provincial Championship:
Killian Spillane and Tadhg Morley both lined out for Munster in the Inter-Provincial Championship last weekend at Croke Park, which saw the new rules get road tested. Munster ultimately came up short against both Ulster in the semi-final and Leinster in the Shield final, but Killian Spillane’s impressive tally of 0-9 earned him the man of the match award in the Shield final.
Our former player Pat Spillane saw game time for Connacht and they came very close to winning the competition only to lose out to Ulster in the final on penalties.
South Kerry Championship U15 Semi-Final Fixture:
Na Fianna V Waterville/Dromid which was due to be played last Sunday was postponed due to the Status Orange weather warning.

Garvey's SuperValu County Senior Football Championship Match Report, Templenoe V Dingle
Garvey’s County Senior Football Championship, Quarter-Final.
Templenoe 0-09, Dingle 1-16.
Templenoe bowed out of the county senior championship last Sunday in Fitzgerald Stadium after a powerful second half display from Dingle saw them safety through to the last four.
Templenoe started very well and had the first two scores of the contest courtesy of Killian Spillane and John Rice with a long-range effort. Dingle replied with Niall Geaney splitting the posts before John Rice put over a second point from distance. But Dingle were now starting to settle into the game and had three of the next four scores with two of their county players Paul Geaney (2) and Tom O’Sullivan reducing the margin to one point before the end of the first quarter. In between Mark Casey was on target with his effort for Templenoe. The score after 15 minutes of play was Templenoe 0-04, Dingle 0-03.
Soon after Paul Geaney levelled the scores, before his counterpart at the other end Killian Spillane fired over three points on the trot to put Templenoe three points ahead with 22 minutes played. Templenoe were good value for their lead at that stage and hopes were high that Templenoe could keep it going and be there or there abouts by the final whistle. However, it was Dingle who had the better finish to the first half with Dylan Geaney (2), Paul Geaney and Matthew Flaherty all chipping in to flip the lead in their favour just before the break. Templenoe did put together a few attacks in between but crucially they failed manufacture scores.
Half Time Score: Templenoe 0-07, Dingle 0-08.
At the restart Dingle immediately laid down a marker for the second half with Barry Dan O’Sullivan extending their lead with a white flag, before Paul Geaney added two more to put Dingle four points clear. Then Templenoe suffered a scare when Cathal Bambury fisted a dropped short free from Paul Geaney to the net, but the goal was disallowed after the referee adjudged that Bambury was in the square. Killian Spillane ended a 16 minutes scoring drought for Templenoe with a pointed free to keep Templenoe well in the contest. However, minutes later Templenoe would endure a double whammy that effectively put the game to bed by the end of the third quarter. The first of which was a goal for Dingle’s Paul Geaney that came about from a turnover and this time the goal stood despite protests as to whether the turnover in the lead up was legit. This made the score 0-08, 1-11. The second sucker punch came when Josh Crowley Holland was issued a second yellow card which reduce Templenoe to 14.
Killian Spillane did pull one score back with a pointed free but try as they might Templenoe never really looked getting a badly need goal to bring them back into the game. Instead, Dingle pushed on and comfortably closed the game out with Cathal Bambury, Tadhg Browne, Paul Geaney (2) and Niall Geaney all finding the range to book their spot in the county semi-final.
Final Score: Templenoe 0-09, Dingle 1-16.
Templenoe senior footballers are now finished for another year, so well done to all the players and management who have continued to do the club proud by reaching the last eight of the county championship for the fifth year in a row and staying up in the Division 2 which was a key objective. Templenoe were also very close to making to the semi-final stage of the County Club Championshipa and only narrowly missing out.
Scorers:
Dingle: Paul Geaney 1-07 (3f), Niall Geaney 0-02, Dylan Geaney 0-02, Tom O’Sullivan 0-01, Matthew Flaherty 0-01, Barry Dan O’Sullivan 0-01, Cathal Bambury 0-01, Tadhg Browne 0-01.
