Templenoe / Tuosist 3-11, Listry 1-10

Templenoe / Tuosist won Div3 of the East Kerry U14 League in a match played in damp conditions in Templenoe on Sunday evening. The game was played in a good sporting fashion, with the breeze helping the home side to victory in the end.

Listry who had the breeze in the opening half, were causing problems for the Templenoe / Tuosist backs from the very start. They opened the scoring from a free, and soon followed up with another free. Both frees were won through long balls to their inside forward lines. Templenoe / Tuosist had attacks, but were overeager to go for goals.

A brace of points from Ciaran Crowley (both frees) levelled the match with ten minutes gone.

Listy again opened a two point gap with good scores from play, before a strong burst up the field from Midfielder Aaron Morris resulted in a goal. Templenoe / Tuosist did not kick on from this and the next four scores went to Listry. The most notable of these was a long ball to the Listry full forward ending up in the net.

The score with five minutes left in the half was Templenoe / Tuosist 1-02, Listry 1-07. The home side got two very important scores as the half came to an end. Darren Maye caught a 45 to chip over a point, and this was followed to by a Ciaran Crowley free.

Half time score, Templenoe 1-04, Listry 1-07

Ciaran Crowley opened the second half scoring with a point. This was followed up with a second goal for Aaron Morris. Templenoe / Tuosist continued to exert their control on the match and notched the next three points, two for Ciaran Crowley and a point for Aaron Morris. Listry responded with a free to leave a goal in the difference with ten minutes to go.

Both teams swapped points, before some great work by Will Sheehy set up Ciaran Crowley for another score. Ciaran followed up again with another point, but in the dying moments of the match, a 45, taken by Aaron Morris, flew straight into the net to leave Templenoe / Tuosist victorious, 3-11 to 1-10.

The trophy was presented to winning captain Aaron Morris who thanked Ref Sean O’Leary, the Listry players and mentors, and the Templenoe / Tuosist players, mentors and supporters
