Teddy O' Sullivan-Casey Cup Final 2001

Templenoe/Kilgarvan 5-10, Kenmare 1-3. Despite a nervous start Templenoe/Kilgarvan u-12's recorded a very comprehensive victory to win their first ever Teddy O' Sullivan cup final. After 15 minutes Kenmare were 1-2 to 0-3 ahead and the T/K forwards were finding it very difficult to score against resolute defending by Kenmare backs. However T/K then woke up and the scores flowed for the from then until the final whistle.

For T/K Patrick O' Connell showed his usual brilliance at full back with great support from Sean O' Shea. Half back line were in full control with outstanding displays from Daniel O' Connor and Joseph Sheehan who gave a man of the match performance at centre back. When Kevin O' Connor and Patrick Palmer settled at midfield they really showed their strength and skill. In the forwards Ciaran O' Sullivan (K) won and passed great ball although Padraig Doyle was the goal poacher of the evening. Daniel Cahalane, a very pacey skilful player was a constant threat to the Kenmare defence.

Minutes later Shane Cremin opened the scoring with a free after Mike Crowley was fouled. Soon after Fossa equalised and this was the last time the sides were level.

Templenoe's goal was scored by Timmy Clifford following a great cross field pass from Mike Crowley and before the break Templenoe got two more points from Mike Crowley and Shane Cremin to leave the half time score Templenoe 1-12, Fossa 0-2.

In the second half Templenoe started well again with Mike Crowley using his power and strength to drive another nail into Fossa's coffin. Fossa got the next three points before a mike Jones fisted effort rolled over the crossbar. Brian O' Connor got an excellent point after his brilliant solo run up the wing ended with a fist pass over the bar.

Fossa raised two more white flags before centre forward Fergus O' Sullivan crashed in goal number two for Templenoe. Substitute Damian Clifford fired home a third goal after a pass from Fergus. In between the goals Shane Cremin had scored another point from a free.
