All at Templenoe GAA Club were saddened to hear of the passing of John O’Sullivan (Dandy) on Tuesday morning. John passed away just one week short of his 50th birthday in the care of the Kenmare Community Nursing Unit where he was in residence for the last number of years
John was the second oldest son in the O’Sullivan (Dandy) family of Claddanure. Like all of his brothers, John represented the Blue & White on the football pitch from underage right up to the Templenoe B and Templenoe Senior team. He often played at wing back or wing forward and his presence could be always relied upon.
John was also a wealth of knowledge and was an ever present on the Templenoe Scór quiz teams in his teenage years. His interests in GAA, politics and history being a great addition to the team.
Prior to his illness, John worked in SuperValu in Kenmare. He was a favourite there with his smiling manner and willingness to assist. John went to college in Tralee RTC and also toured Australia for a year. Everyone who met and interacted with John immediately warmed to him. He was hugely likeable but also had a touch of mischief about him. John bore his illness very bravely. He never complained about his situation.
In a tough year for the O’Sullivan (Dandy) family John’s father Jack passed earlier in the year in March. His younger brother Thomas passed away in 2020. Both are dearly missed by all in Templenoe.
Everyone at Templenoe GAA Club would like to extend our sincere condolences to John’s mother Mary, his brothers Patrick and Paul O’Sullivan, and the wider O’Sullivan family on the passing of John.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.
