Templenoe 2-20, Dromid Pearses 0-14

Templenoe have topped their group and qualified for the South Kerry League semi-final following a twelve points win over Dromid Pearses at Dromore Sportsfield on Sunday.

The game was play in wintery conditions but despite all the rain in recent weeks Dromore Sportsfield pitch held up very well. Dromid Pearses were first to register a score with a close in free. It took Templenoe a bit of time to find their rhythm, but when they did the Crowley bothers gave an expedition of two pointers. Brian Crowley scored their first two pointer 10 minutes in, which was quickly followed with a two pointer by Gavin, then not to be outdone Colin Crowley nailed 3 two pointers on the trot. Dromid Pearses remained competitive and did reduce the margin to six points, before Mark Casey tagged on another point for the hosts approaching the interval.

Half Time Score: Templenoe 0-11, Dromid Pearses 0-04.

The second half saw Templenoe extend their lead to nine points by the end of the third quarter, with Gavin Crowley (two pointer), Micheal O’Mahony and Mark Looney (two pointer free) all chipping in. However, Dromid Pearses were refusing to roll over and they cut the deficit to six points again with ten minutes remaining. Soon after Templenoe finally put the game to bed with a goal from Brian Crowley. The hosts finished out the game strong with team captain Adrian Spillane adding a second goal, while Colin Crowley and Mark Looney made no mistakes with two pointer frees. Among the subs introduced for Templenoe was Marc Foley for his debut appearance. Dromid Pearses fought to the end and did add four more points to the scoreboard before the full-time whistle.

Final Score: Templenoe 2-20, Dromid Pearses 0-14.

The Templenoe team, subs and scorers were as follows:

Mark Looney 0-04 (2tp, 2f), Darragh Casey, Kieran O’Neill, Ciaran Crowley, Martin Reilly, Gavin Crowley 0-04 (2tp), Mark Casey 0-01, Adrian Spillane © 1-00, Ríain O’Byrne, Caoilte O’hUrdail, Colin Crowley 0-08 (2tp, 1f)), Kieran McCarthy, Micheal O’Mahony 0-01, Brian Crowley 1-02 (1tp), Joh Moriarty.
