McCarthy Insurance County Senior Football League Div 2:

Templenoe V Castleisland Desmonds which was due to be played last Saturday evening was postponed until a later date as a mark of respect for our late Club President Joan Rice RIP and her family.

Keel V Templenoe in round 3 of the county league is scheduled to be played this weekend at Keel GAA Grounds. Please follow our social media for confirmation of date and throw-in time.

Keane’s SuperValu County Club Championship Group D Shield Final:

Na Fianna 6-14, Kerins O’Rahillys 1-15. Congratulations to the Na Fianna minor footballers on winning the Group D Shield Final at Legion GAA Grounds last Saturday. Na Fianna were captained by Micheal O’Mahony.

It was with great sadness that the Templenoe GAA Club community learned of the death of our Club President, Joan Rice, Rossacussane and formerly of Coom on the 25th March 2026.

Joan had a lifelong association with Templenoe GAA and was an ever present at Templenoe GAA matches until recent times. A school- teacher by profession, Joan was also passionate and knowledgeable about football and was a very sociable person who was held in high regard in the community.

Joan was part of a wonderful family that achieved so much for the club. Her late husband Johnny served as Club Chairperson from 1968 to 1974. He was senior team manager when Templenoe reached their first County Intermediate final in 1988 and indeed he was a selector with the victorious Kerry All-Ireland minor team in 1975, while her late brother Ted was also an Honorary Club President. Joan’s sons John and Kevin were accomplished footballers who between them played football with the Kerry minors, U21s and Juniors and both played their parts with the Kenmare District team that won the 1987 county senior football championship. Joan’s daughter Ann is a valued club member and supporter as was her late daughter Bernie (Crowley) who sadly passed away in 2015. Joan was immensely proud to see her grandchildren Brian, Gavin, and Colin Crowley as well as John Rice all wear the Kerry jersey at minor level. Brian and Gavin went onto represent Kerry at U21 level and both won All-Ireland Junior medals with Kerry, before Gavin topped it off by winning an All-Ireland senior medal with Kerry in 2022.

There were many other highlights for Joan along the way, but none more so than witnessing Templenoe winning an All-Ireland Junior Club title at Croke Park in 2016 and seeing Templenoe capture the Munster Intermediate Club title in 2019 with her son John as manager. Joan will be sadly missed by all at Templenoe GAA Club and we offer our heartfelt condolences to John, Kevin, Anne and to all the extended Rice, O’Sullivan and Crowley families.

St Marys 0-10, Templenoe 2-12. Well done to our senior footballers on getting their county league campaign off to a good start with an eight-points win away to St Marys on the 15th March.

Allianz Football League Final:

We wish Tadhg, Killian, the Kerry senior footballers and management the very best of luck in the Allianz Football League final against Donegal this Sunday at Croke Park.

Last Man Standing:

Congratulations to Eoin Finnegan winner of our last man standing competition scoping the €500 prize.

Many thanks to everyone who entered. The money raised will go towards the training costs for our senior footballers

50th Anniversary and Medal Presentation:

The Templenoe County Junior Football team and officials from 1975 were recently honoured by the club to mark the 50th anniversary of their championship win at a function held in Ring of Kerry Golf Club. – On the same night our senior footballers were also presented with their 2025 South Kerry League medals.
