Ted O’Sullivan (Coom) - Templenoe GAA Club President - RIP.

It was with great sadness that the Templenoe GAA Club members learned of the death of Ted O’Sullivan (Coom), Gortbrack and formerly of Coomlumina on the 18th January 2024.

Ted had a life long association with Templenoe GAA, indeed he was there with some of the Templenoe teams that use to train at the Bog Field in Reen, before the current pitch was developed. Aside from his involvement with Templenoe GAA, Ted was a distinguished cross-country runner. He was four times Kerry County senior cross-country champion, winning his first a few weeks after reaching his eighteenth birthday.

Like his sister Joan Rice and close friend Arthur O’Connor, Ted was an ever present at Templenoe matches and was was very proud to see Templenoe go from Novice to Senior and to witness Templenoe winning an All-Ireland Junior Club title in Croke Park in 2016. Ted was never found wanting when it came to contributing to any Templenoe GAA fundraisers.

Ted’s sons John Kieran and Timothy played with Templenoe for many years and were among those who kept our senior team going during the less successful years. John Kieran was also part of the Templenoe management team that guided Templenoe to a Munster Intermediate final success in 2019.

Ted was also proud to see his nephews and grandnephews wear the Kerry Jersey at minor junior and U21 level, topped off with his grandnephew Gavin Crowley winning an All-Ireland senior medal with Kerry in 2022.

Ted will be sadly missed by all at Templenoe GAA Club and we offer our heartfelt condolences to Doreen, Martina, John Kieran, Olivia, Jacinta, Timothy, his sister Joan and all the extended O’Sullivan family.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.
