Garvey’s Super Valu County Senior Football Championship Round 1:

East Kerry 3-23, Templenoe 1-10. Our senior footballers drew the short straw in the county championship and were always going to be up against it. East Kerry showed no mercy and ran out easy winners, but Templenoe battled throughout with every player giving it their all. Templenoe’s proud record of reaching the quarter-final in every county senior championship since our debut season at senior level in 2020 has ended. However, all is not lost, Templenoe still have a South Kerry League Final to prepare for against St Marys. Date time and venue for this game is to be advised.

South Kerry U16 Championship Semi -Final:

Na Fianna 3-12, St Marys/Renard/Valentia 3-12. Well done to the Na Fianna U16 footballers who came back from 5 points down at half time to earn a draw against St Marys/Renard/Valentia last Sunday evening at Caherciveen. The replay is due to be played next weekend. Best of luck to the Na Fianna players and management.

Templenoe GAA Golf Classic 2025:

Templenoe GAA Club wishes to thank everyone who took part in last weekend’s Golf Scramble and to all those who sponsored a tee box and a team etc. Special thanks to the club’s main sponsor’s Ring of Kerry Golf Club for the use of their facilities and to the Killarney, Kenmare Cahersiveen Credit Union for sponsoring the tournament. Our gratitude to all who helped in anyway with the running of the event in particular to Michael O’Sullivan who was the main point of contact and did a lot of the organising work. Results and report on the tournament and prize giving ceremony to follow in next week’s Kerryman.

Sympathy:

Sincere sympathy is extended to the family of the late John Palmer, Goulane who passed away recently. May he rest in peace.

The Templenoe G.A.A. Club annual golf classic took place on the Ring of Kerry Golf course over the equinox weekend.

After a lead-up week filled with trepidation due to monsoon like rainfall, the weather gods smiled in no uncertain manner and the event took place in dry idyllic September sunshine.

Over the course of two spectacular days a total of 42 teams took on the challenges of this fine course in a 3-person scramble format. The entry fee included a voucher for food at the excellent Nua Vista restaurant in the clubhouse, and a nice relaxed buzz was generated as teams refueled and held post-mortems on their skills as they overlooked a resplendent Kenmare Bay.

The eventual winners set the benchmark on Saturday, but it was late on Sunday afternoon before they could entertain confident hopes of the €1,500 first prize. All categories were keenly contested and a fine crowd attended the presentation of prizes on Sunday evening. The prizes were presented by Bernard Hourihan on behalf of event sponsors, Killarney, Kenmare and Cahirciveen Credit Union. After an afternoon being venerated and photographed in equal measure, the Sam Maguire cup kept a silvery eye on proceedings, and a trio from the Templenoe G.A.A. Scór group (under the direction of Maggie O’Sullivan) entertained the attendance.

Club Chairperson, Tomás Crowley thanked club sponsors the Ring of Kerry Golf Club by Sheen Falls Hotel, associate event sponsors Gallivan Murphy Insurance Brokers, and all those who sponsored teams and tee boxes. In his remarks he stressed the importance of the event to the small rural community that is Templenoe G.A.A., and expressed heartfelt gratitude to all those who contributed positively to the support, organization and delivery of a very enjoyable outing.
